The Southern Oesophageal Support Group set up this web site to help anyone with oesophageal problems.
In June 2008 the London branch of the
Oesophageal Patients' Association (OPA), an
organisation with similar aims, stepped in to
keep it updated with advice and to act as a
contact point.
We are former
patients helping new patients, particularly
after surgery that has removed all or part of
the oesophagus (gullet) and/or stomach.
Although cancer is the most frequent reason for
these operations, we also aim to provide support
for those who have had surgery for other
reasons, and for those who will not have had
surgery.
We aim to provide moral support and useful tips drawn from our own experiences.
